The rules
The Defrag Standard
Defrag Earth includes a place only if it passes The Standard: (1) it must be enduring, not a trend — would it still matter in ten years; (2) it must have local consensus — residents and critics agree it is exceptional; (3) it must have a reason to exist — a distinct purpose no generic alternative replaces; and (4) it must be independently verifiable. Places cannot pay to appear, and nobody can pay to remove an honest editorial note.
01
Enduring
Would this place still matter in ten years? If its value depends on a moment, it does not pass. The Standard is biased toward permanence.
02
Consensus
Do the people who live there agree it is exceptional? Tourist ratings are not enough — locals and critics must both vouch for it.
03
A reason to exist
Does the city lose something irreplaceable if it disappears? If a generic alternative does the same job, it does not earn an entry.
04
Verifiable
Every entry is real, visitable, and linked to its public map listing. Nothing invented, nothing sponsored, nothing removable for money.
The Standard is public so every inclusion can be questioned — and every omission, too.
